Pro Tip: Introducing TaylorMade MG3 Wedges

TaylorMade boasts one of the most impressive stables of Tour pros of any brand in golf, so when you find out that some if its big names like Collin Morikawa had a hand in helping with design input for TaylorMade’s new MG3 wedge, you know you’ve got a solid scoring tool at your disposal.

“We went out to the Tour players and started asking questions about shaping,” Bill Price, TaylorMade’s senior director for production creation, putters, and wedges told Golf.com when the wedge was released recently. “Of course, you get a lot of answers. It’s important to sift through that feedback and come out with shapes and profiles that speak to them, as well as the average golfer.”

Changes were made from the MG2 to TaylorMade MG3 wedge on the overall head shape, offset, toe height, and hosel length. The MG3 is one of the finest crafted of all the TaylorMade wedges in Canada.

Built with Raw Face technology and precision milling, those assets help golfers to enhance feel and spin. The face of the TaylorMade MG3 wedge rusts over time, which helps preserve consistent spin. But don’t worry: only the face will rust. The rest of the head will maintain its premium finish.

New for the TaylorMade MG3 wedges are raised micro-ribs between the full grooves. They help to increase spin and performance, which helps golfers with their touch around the greens – no matter their skill level.

TaylorMade golf’s research and development team also installed a sharper and narrower ZTP Raw Groove for the MG3 wedge which helps golfers in wet conditions.

The new TaylorMade MG3 wedge also has a unique thick-thin design, meaning the CG location is ideal for a precise ball flight.

The wedges are CNC milled to ensure consistency head to head, and the sound and feel of the TaylorMade MG3 wedge were refined from its predecessor – which was an important priority from the likes of Morikawa.

Available in two finishes – satin raw chrome and satin raw black – and plenty of bounce options, the new wedges from TaylorMade golf were inspired by the best in the world but meant to help weekend warriors improve their scoring as well.
