What to Look for In Golf Shoes
The first question to answer: Do I want Spiked Golf Shoes or Spikeless Golf Shoes? Let’s look at the differences.
Spiked golf shoes typically offer a more traditional look, along with removable spikes. If you tend to play a lot of golf, prefer to keep the same pair of shoes for a while, and don’t care to wear your golf shoes off the course, spiked may be your best bet. Why? Mainly because spikes don’t travel well away from the course, and they can be replaced when they wear down.
Some golfers also feel spikes provide more stability during the swing. This is especially true when conditions are wet or muddy.
Other golfers prefer spikeless shoes for their more casual appearance. Indeed, many companies tout their spikeless models’ on- and off-course versatility. Where performance is concerned, don’t be fooled by the term “spikeless.” These shoes offer ample traction in the form of flexible nubs, although the nubs do tend to wear down over time.
