Pro Tip: Meet the PING G430 Drivers, Irons and More

Pro Tip: Meet the PING G430 Drivers, Irons and More

The new PING G430 family is set to help you unlock more speed and distance through some impressive new innovations.

PING’s G430 line includes new drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, and irons. There was plenty of quick adoption by the best in the world on the PGA Tour when the product was first made available – there was almost 30 drivers in play the first week out and PGA Tour staffers were seeing 2 to 4 mph gains in ball speed – and now there’s an opportunity to hit it further, straighter, and more consistent thanks to PING’s new gear.

“The combined distance gains throughout the entire G430 family are like nothing we’ve seen from one generation of clubs to the next,” said John K. Solheim, PING CEO & President. “Our approach with G430 has been to find more speed and deliver it in a way that contributes to lower scores and more enjoyment on the course. That includes providing a level of forgiveness that remains unequalled. The powerful combination of distance and forgiveness wins out when golfers are properly fitted. We see that every day in our research and we’re excited to get the G430 into the hands of golfers so they can see the same benefits.”

Here's everything you need to know about the new PING G430.

    Drivers

The new custom-fit, custom-built PING G430 family boasts three driver models – MAX, LST, and SFT. There are several new technologies that are common to each head while there are some unique enhancements installed (see below) to some of the heads. You’ll see improved sound thanks to a new internal rib structure, and a bumped-up ball speed with improved engineering around “Spinsistency” from the G425.

    The New Technology

Carbonfly Wrap: Exclusive to the LST (Low Spin Technology) driver is the Carbonfly Wrap, a lightweight composite that wraps the heel/toe sections of the skirt to save weight and lower the CG, plus covers the crown. There’s a 22-gram, high-density tungsten backweight that will help influence shot shape plus-or-minus seven yards, while the eight-layer composite will save four grams.

Adjustable backweight: New to the SFT (Straight Flight Technology) 460cc head is a moveable tungsten backweight with two settings that is a solid option for golfers who are big-time slicers.

Max: A 25-gram high-density tungsten moveable backweight helps influence shot shape plus-or-minus eight yards.

    Fairway Woods

The Carbonfly Wrap is a key part of the G430 fairway woods and helps delivers more distance by positioning the CG in a place to help maximize ball speed. That results in higher, longer carries. The lightweight composite crown helps save 10 grams, while the composite also plays a role in improved sound. Each of the models is engineered to help produce forgiveness and added distance for all skill levels in two models – MAX and SFT.

    Hybrids

There are six loft options for the new hybrids from PING – and they also boast the new Carbonfly Wrap which helps to say eight grams of weight compared to a steel crown. Facewrap technology – the thin steel face that wraps into the sole and crown to help increase flexing and ball speed – plus Spinsistency – to help add distance – are complimented by a tungsten backweight to improve forgiveness.

“The popularity of our hybrids continues to grow,” said Solheim. “They’ve quietly become one of our most successful categories. They’ve earned a reputation as easy-to-hit, reliable gapping solutions to mid and long irons known mainly for their forgiveness.”

    Irons

The G430 irons boast distance gains of approximately 7 to 10 yards thanks to the multi-material construction. PING calls its new G430 its longest iron ever thanks to a complex design combining lower CG with custom-engineered lofts and a thinner face (helping to produce two more mph of ball speed. There’s distance and forgiveness thanks to the PurFlex cavity badge – a PING innovation that features seven flex zones for more free bending and increased ball speed across the face. Among the refinements include the overall shape with a shorter hosel plus approximately one degree of additional bounce throughout the set to help provide pure strikes and clean turf interaction. The PING G430 irons are available in 4-9 plus pitching wedge and four other wedge degrees of loft.
