Callaway Golf has once again expanded on its deep roots in innovation for its 2021 line of Epic Speed drivers, fairway woods, and Apex irons. The way Callaway Golf has used artificial intelligence to help golfers gain distance with its golf clubs remains impressive and is continued with its fresh line for 2021.

Callaway drivers have always been on the leading edge of technology from the first Big Bertha almost two decades ago. Now Callaway golf clubs are getting an even more modernized look, feel, and sound, with A.I. being used in Callaway fairway woods and irons for the first time.

Here’s everything you need to know about Callaway’s 2021 Epic Speed lineup.

Callaway Epic Speed Drivers

Three new models are available for 2021. While Callaway drivers have featured faces built with the assistance of artificial intelligence for the last couple of years, the Callaway golf research and development team has installed something new for Callaway’s 2021 drivers – the A.I.-designed Jailbreak speed frame.

Whereas previous Jailbreak installations stiffened the body of the face in the vertical direction, the new speed frame helps to improve stability in the Callaway drivers in both the horizontal and torsional (twisting) direction as well. The result is increased ball speeds across the face.

Epic Speed, according to Callaway, is the fastest Epic driver ever. The other drivers for 2021 include the Epic MAX and Epic MAX LS. The Epic Speed boasts an aerodynamic head that actually promotes lower drag and higher speed. The Epic Speed’s crown – and large part of the toe – is covered with a new material exclusive to Callaway, Triaxial carbon, which promotes weight savings of over 16 grams.

Epic MAX is the most forgiving Epic Callaway has ever produced. The solution for golfers, Callaway said, is just a simple equation. Maximum ball speed via the Jailbreak A.I. speed frame and maximum forgiveness (with high MOI and adjustable weighting) is the ultimate ‘maximum’ driver.

Epic MAX LS, meanwhile, is designed to help mid or low-handicap golfers who are eager for more speed, forgiveness in a low-spin, high-MOI package, and a neutral ball flight. The adjustable permitter weighting provides up to 13 yards of shot-shape correction.

Callaway Epic Speed Fairway Woods

In 2021 Callaway has launched (emphasis on launched) two new fairway wood models. With Callaway, golf shots both off the tee and from the fairway benefit from exceptional ball speed. The Callaway fairway woods boast a totally new Jailbreak system. Using Artificial Intelligence, Callaway golf has spread the angles of the Jailbreak ‘blades’ which allows the body of the fairway wood to stiffen and the up to flex efficiently.

Off-centre hits still produce high ball speed, as Callaway fairway woods in 2021 have been uniquely designed using A.I. and with Epic Speed. Those high ball speeds plus forgiveness come thanks to C300 Maraging Steel – boasting big-time strength and flexibility. Golfers are looking for distance and forgiveness in a fairway wood and Callaway delivers in 2021 with a forward centre of gravity and a new leading-edge to promote a piercing ball flight.

Epic MAX, meanwhile, is the ultimate in forgiveness thanks to an oversized head shape. The head is combined with a face that’s shallower than previous Callaway fairway wood models making them easy to launch, and easy to tune with a 2 and 14-gram weight.

Epic Speed is available in five different lofts, while Epic MAX is available in seven lofts.

Callaway Golf Irons

For 2021, Callaway irons are led by a refresh of the Apex line. Callaway has installed its artificial intelligence design methodology in an iron for the first time with Apex, it’s the first line of forged irons designed with A.I. The result is faster ball speed than other Callaway irons, improved consistency, and increased forgiveness. Callaway has added a Tungsten Energy Core to help with that forgiveness – and they look beautiful, to boot.

The other Callaway irons for 2021 include the Apex Pro and Apex DCB. Apex Pro also features an A.I. face and a brand-new forged hollow body – built for the better player. Apex DCB is the final Callaway iron that’s new for 2021, and it’s an idyllic game-improvement club (totally new for Callaway) and has the forgiveness of a cavity-back design with the feel and performance of a forged club.
