Tiger Woods made a big-time return earlier this year at the Masters, just a year after suffering a myriad of injuries after a horrific car crash the February prior.
One thing that didn’t make the return with Woods, however, was his usual Nike shoes.
When Woods teed it up at the Masters – and the PGA Championship and The Open Championship, too – he was instead wearing FootJoy Premiere Series Packard shoes.

Woods has been wearing the swoosh for more than 25 years and is perhaps been the most famous Nike athlete in history, so his switch to FootJoy shoes was a big deal.
When the images of Woods wearing the FootJoy shoes hit the internet, Nike released a statement defending their relationship with the 15-time major winner.
“Like golf fans around the world, we are delighted to see Tiger back on the course. He is an incredible athlete, and it is phenomenal to see him returning to the game at this level,” the statement said. “His story continues to transcend sport and inspire us all. As he continues his return, we will work with him to meet his new needs.”
Woods would go on to say the reason he changed to FootJoy shoes was because of how limited his mobility was at the time.
“With the rods and plates and screws that are in my leg, I needed something different, something that allowed me to be more stable. That’s what I’ve gone to,” said Woods.
“Nike’s been fantastic over the years of providing me with equipment and… we have worked, we’ve been working on trying to find something to allow me to do this and swing again.
“We’re still going to continue doing it and hopefully we’ll have something soon.”
That was Woods talking at the Masters, but he kept wearing the FootJoy shoes for the other two majors he teed it up at through 2022. While Woods’ schedule remains uncertain moving forward, one thing’s for sure: we’ll be keeping an eye on his feet.
